Social Bookmarking

So I just finished my reading on social bookmarking. I am somewhat undecided on whether I like the social bookmarking as a tool. The whole purpose or definition of "social bookmarking" claims to help organize the infinite amounts of information on the web in a way that the user can understand. I can understand being able to go to 5 sites that you like over and over again easily as they are bookmarked or indexed on a single dashboard could make it easier. But my use of favorites in my internet browser I think works just as well. I guess I will try it out and see how I like it. I guess if I was researching or looking at current information regularly on a certain topic it may come in handy. The big issue I have is that is it people rank based, so the information is shown based on how they tag it. I may have to search through 100's of listings before I get the one I find valuable. The jury is out...
