Creating an Audio Object

This week we had to create an audio object of 5-10 minutes in length providing some kind of instructional or teaching value. During the class that Will described and showed us what an audio object was, I was a little confused about how it differed from a podcast. They are both audio and are files. Audio objects are typically played over the web, they can be posted to a blog or within a webpage. A podcast is played through an aggregator such as iTunes.
So what's the big deal with an audio object anyways? How is it possible to make a 10 minutes audio clip valuable to the audience and still get your point across in such a short amount of time?? These were questions that I initially had.

I began my quest a few days ago. I scripted my audio out with intent, purpose and key points that I wanted to discuss with examples of each. My script ended up being 1 page in length which I surely thought would be enough to cover at least 5 minutes. After completing my recording I was astonished to find that it only covered 2:15 minutes!!!! What else could I possibly add to my audio without having to recreate it? I added more examples to the points I was explaining.
After I completed my project, I was amazed at how much information you could actually fit into a 10 minute file. The big thing is trying not to rush through it making it unclear to the listener. An audio file can make a webpage a little more personal by adding audio to it besides some kind of music.
